Is the Provider of Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical
Services (EMS), and Life Safety for our Community

Responded to over 985 calls in 2017, over 70% EMS.
Calls increased 35% over last 5 years

Providing emergency response to 9,000 people over 70 square miles

1 full time employee, 22 part paid and 15 volunteer firefighters

One fire station in Arlington Heights, Contract with Arlington Fire for Southern side of
District

Funded by two property tax levies: EMS and Fire

EMS levy renewed by voters in 2012 at 50 cents per $1000 currently at 41 cents

Fire Levy has never been increased since the district began in 1960, currently at 50
cents of a possible $1.50/1000 (2nd lowest in Snohomish County)

A strategic 7 year financial plan is in place to insure proper funding and planning for
future growth

Board of Fire Commissioners will ask voters to raise the fire levy to $1.30 per $1000 in
August of 2018. This lid lift would cost the owner of a $350,000 home an additional
$23.30 dollars per month. ($280 per year)

Increased funding would be used for a new McElroy Rd station, Arlington Heights
Station remodel to include living quarters for 24 hr staffing. Safer and more effective
3 person/24 hour staffing at both stations.
